When ordering C Connector versions of the Microstepping MDrive17 or 23, or MDrive14, the following 
set of 3 cables is recommended with your first purchase:

Information below details use of these cables in Setting Parameters and Prototype Testing for these MDrives.

Parameter Setting  for C Connector MDrives 
Refer to picture at right

  1. Plug the ADAPTER CABLE into the "C" Connector (P1 location) on MDrive.
  2. Plug small connector on PARAMETER SETUP CABLE into its mate on the ADAPTER CABLE.
  3. Plug the PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT CABLE into its mate on the ADAPTER CABLE.
  4. Connect the appropriate wires on the PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT CABLE to the motor power supply. Pin assignments below.
  5. Plug the large connector on the PARAMETER SETUP CABLE into a computer's Parallel/SPI port.
  6. Apply power to the MDrive.
  7. Set desired parameters according to the instructions in the manual. [Link to Manuals]
    Click "set" when complete.
  8. Power down the MDrive.
  9. Disconnect ADAPTER CABLE from the MDrive and connect it to next MDrive needing its parameters set.
  10. Repeat steps 6-9 for each MDrive.
  11. Disconnect all cables when complete.

Prototype Testing
Refer to picture at right

  1. Set the appropriate parameters according to the procedure above.
  2. Connect the PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT CABLE directly to the MDrive.
  3. Connect the appropriate wires on the PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT CABLE to the motor power supply. Refer to pin assignments above.
  4. Connect the control wires (step, direction, enable, opto reference) to their proper source signal locations. See Details for C Connector hook up taken from

    Leave unused wires disconnected and coiled in a convenient location.
  5. Apply power to the MDrive.
  6. Operate the MDrive like a any other microstepping motor and drive.
