Through customer feedback, IMS determined that potential ground loops could be introduced in MD-CC400-000 and MD-CC300-000 cables used with MDrivePlus and MForce products, and has released electrically isolated Communication Converters to improve field reliability.
There are a large number of customer wiring variables that can introduce ground loops into cables, especially when in party mode with MDI - Motion Control MDrives. Symptoms can surface when the cable is connected for real time communication and manifests as corrupted transmitted or received communication strings.
Although no other integrated competitor provides electrical isolation for their communication converter interface cables, IMS has taken steps to prevent this potential field problem. This will not prevent every potential ground loop problem, but will help eliminate many systemic causes created by customer wiring schemes.

In addition, Communication Converters have been expanded with an updated offering that eliminates the need for interfacing via adapter boards (part numbers with ADP below).
