Connecting RS-422/485 communications

 

Tutorial overview

This tutorial covers the connection of the RS-422/485 serial interface. This tutorial is not required if you are using the MD-CC40X-001 USB to RS-422/485 converter cable, which is plug and play.

This tutorial will cover the following connection methods:

  1. Single mode - full duplex (RS-422)
  2. Single mode - half duplex (RS-485)
  3. Party mode - (Multi-drop RS-422)

What you need:

  1. PC running an operating system compatible with your communications converter drivers.
  2. MDrivePlus, MForce or MDrive Hybrid Motion Control
  3. Serial card or other RS-422/485 interface.
  4. Connector pins and shells for your model Motion Control device.
  5. Cabling and basic hand tools.
